On Saturday, I became the person that you hate at estate sales: The vintage ornament hog.
But, honestly, I think you might have done the same thing. In a house filled with mostly tick and tack (metal sculptures of butterflies, overstuffed teddy bears and wide-eyed dolls), I found the one thing that told me that the dearly departed once had some real style. For years, she had hung onto 10 boxes of tear-drop shaped Polish ornaments. They must have looked stunning on her Christmas tree.
And so I did what I had to do and what I knew the next person in the room would do: I grabbed them. Every. Single. Box.
But while I didn't share the ornaments, I will share this tip:
Want to get rid of those annoying price stickers (usually written on masking tape) that mess up the graphics on a vintage box?
Don't do what I did and try to peel the tape off. Chances are you'll end removing the cute graphics, and in this case, Santa's face.
No, be patient. Go home and get out the bottle of Goo Gone and spray a little on a paper towel. And then lightly apply the paper towel to the sticker.
Then peel the masking tape right off. Any residue left by the Goo Gone will fade.
And speaking of price sticker, here's the original one: 65 cents.
So lovely! :)

So you're the one :) I would have nabbed them all up too. The boxes alone are worth the stares of the other estate sale attendees!
