One of the reasons that I like going to estate sales is the element of surprise. Even the most complete listing of a sale can't prepare you for the unexpected, which brings me to my latest estate sale find:
Presenting Gaston's cuckoo clock.
Gaston? You remember him, don't you? The he-man from "Beauty and the Beast"? The one who "uses antlers in all of my decorating"?
Well, I bought his cuckoo clock. And now I'm debating if I'm ready for Whittling 101 so I can try to fix that broken antler.
Which hardly seems like a good idea, considering that I have two other non-working cuckoo clocks that I bought with the intention of doing something with them. The one on the left I planned to use for a shadow box, seeing how somebody else removed the clock guts. The one on the right, I bought because I liked the way the wood was painted and, oh yeah, it was only a buck.
And now, because I have three cuckoo clocks, I have an official collection. Never mind if they're all cuckoo clocks that don't work.
Maybe I'm the one who's cuckoo?
