Within hours, 2012 will be history. And to that I say: Good Riddance. Without going into too much nitty gritty detail, let me just say that this year has been the hardest year of my life. I’m ready for better days in 2013.
But before I plunge forward, let me update you on a few things.
First, remember our angel tree topper with the sweet little note from "Mother"?
Well, she didn’t make it to the top of the Christmas tree. In fact, I didn’t get anything on the top of the tree, but that’s another post for the procrastination department. I did remove that awful gold lame dress and this was what she was wearing underneath. Much better, don’t you think? But I’m wondering if a little gold trim on the bottom would be OK to hide the skirt’s ragged edges.
And speaking of angels, I wanted to show you some of the other musical angel ornaments that I’ve picked up over the years. I found two more of these ornaments in the same bag as the tree topper.
I also discovered that these types of figures are called "margarine angels." They’re made of plastic and were giveaways in boxes of food products in the early 1950s. You can learn more here: http://www.merrytheschristmascollection.be/plahangorn.htm#margerine
I also found one more of these types of figures in a swap shop a few weeks ago. She’s a keeper, I think.
Finally, a quick Etsy shop update: Everything in my shop is 20 percent off through Friday, Jan. 4, so if you’ve seen something that you like, now is the time to get it at a discount.
I’ll be back soon with my best finds of 2012 just to prove to myself that it wasn’t an entirely crappy year.

Another thing learned in blogland with the margarine angels..thanks for the info.
Hope 2013 proves to be a better year...

It will be better. It just will. I'm looking forward to a lucky '13.
