Everybody knows that Santa wears a red suit. But until Saturday, I didn't know that Santa also had a big red barn.
The barn is the location of a seasonal secondhand store way out in the country that's about 15 minutes from my house. The shop owner was closing for the winter and had placed an ad on Craigslist to help yourself to what was out front. And you know I don't have to be asked twice about Christmas, particularly if there is the possibility of vintage Christmas. Of course you had to dig a little to find the good stuff, which I did.
And this was my haul:
Assorted vintage bulbs, including a few Shiny Brites, plus a Santa tree topper. I'm not sure if he is that old, but he is vintage-inspired and I'm sure I'll be able to use him in something.
Some Hummel ornaments from the late 1970s. I'm sure that somebody somewhere collects them.
A pair of beaded Martha Stewart stockings.
A kitschy plastic tabletop tree, some 1960s bulbs (I couldn't resist the Tulip Crystal on the box) and a round Austrian-made tablecloth that I had neither the time or the energy to iron.
Not too bad, and when I left, I had a big smile on my face, just like this.

Way to dig for the good stuff! I bet you had fun!
Happy Holidays!

Oh my goodness, what a great score. I don't know if that santa tree topper is vintage or not but I adore it either way!

Thanks for sharing! I love anything vintage- especially vintage clothing stores. You have some really cool stuff, I can't wait to see more!

I can't think of any more magical words than 'help yourself' at a rummage barn. Did you also get that little tree (to the right in the first photo) with the doodads wound around it?
