Halloween 1964

I don't know what costume I wore for Halloween in 1964, when I was barely 4 years old. But I don't think that I was Lily Munster.

Which is too bad because Lily Munster's costume is quite cool, but there is no way that I can squeeze into it now.

But I do have other Halloween items from that same era displayed around my house.

On the mantel, there is an accumulation of Halloween blow molds that I've found in the last year. I never thought I was a fan of these things but I've actually grown quite fond of some of them.

Two are recent acquisitions, including this "gotcha" pumpkin.

And this witch's head growing out of a caldron.

And speaking of recent finds, I lucked into a second Gurley witch candle a week after I found the first one. And it was also 25 cents.

Here's a closeup of the plastic planters that I fill with curly willow. They're actually ordinary floral vases which were probably quite common in 1964 and I found at an estate sale. I spray-painted them black. Their edges remind me of spiders' webs.

On the shelves above the kitchen sink, I have collectibles paired with old trick-or-treat pumpkins.

And there's a few more items in a big box that I may or may not get to before tonight. You see, there's only a few more hours to run out and blow $20 on candy. Maybe Lily Munster will be at my door.

Love the expression on the Gotcha pumpkin. I was born in 1964 so was not out trick or treating quite yet. I do have a connection to the Munsters tho...my dad went out on a couple of dates with Marilyn Munster who was the normal cute girl in the family.

I am having the same reaction to blow molds...I actually like them now...so strange.

You have a fun collection. I just got my first Halloween blowmold this year. Five years ago I would have thought they were tacky, but I am sort of addicted at looking for more on ebay right now. And for Christmas, I just might get those huge blowmold candles for my front porch.
