I was literally at a crossroads Saturday morning, and a soggy one at that.
After much debate, I had decided to skip the nearby estate sale that advertised "LOTS of Christmas" in favor of the annual Route 90 Sale, a 50-mile yard sale extravaganza where you can find that just about anything or maybe just about nothing.
And at 8 a.m., about the time that I hit Route 90 in Montezuma, N.Y., I was feeling quite a bit like this:
Wet, a bit sad-eyed, and wondering just "who" decided, after a summerlong drought, to finally open the heavens and let it rain and rain.
But by the end of the day, it was all good. I had dried out and I had a few treasures.
There was a little bit of Christmas although I didn't find as much as Barbara, who went to the aforementioned sale. But I did gather a few ornaments, some deer and something called a "Crystal Tree," which holds everything from ornaments to cupcakes.
Among my first purchases was this Little Bo Beep Lamp. It's an Irmi lamp and the shade is original.
Bo needs a little bit of TLC, but she won me over with her sweet little face.
Later on, after the rains stopped and the sun came out, I found Trudy Lynn Salmon's Halloween costume in the free bin. It's in rough shape, but it's aqua and has fairies on it, so I had to grab it.
Besides, I don't think it fits Trudy Lynn anymore.
My daughter Grace, who was along for the ride, found a lovely green suitcase that is lined in pink. And, yes, I think she's collecting vintage suitcases.
She also found a vintage jewelry box
and Navy uniforms circa 1950. No, she's not in a production of "On the Town," so certainly doesn't need all four. Looking for a Halloween costume? Maybe we can persuade her to model one for us. What do you think?

Oh my word! That fairy costume is AMAZING.

Crystal tree, original lampshade and the Halloween costume. Those three items would have made me happy as a clam. Fun drive...and love that your daughter tags along. (my kids roll their eyes at the thought)
