Is it a good thing or a bad thing to see one of these in front of an estate sale?
Does a Dumpster parked in the driveway mean:
A) There's lots of good vintage stuff inside because all the bad vintage stuff (i.e. unsellable trash) is in the Dumpster?
or
B) WARNING: You're about to enter an episode of "Hoarders"?
On Saturday, I debated just that and I decided to take my chances. I had seen some photos from this sale posted on Craiglist, and I knew that on the other side of that big garage door, there was vintage Christmas. And I'd do just about anything and go just about anywhere for vintage Christmas. Besides, I was No. 12, which meant I would be among the first in. And, if it was really, really bad inside, I could be among the first out.
Luckily, that wasn't necessary. And, yes, the vintage Christmas was worth the wait and the debate.
A few boxes of ornaments.
Some very cute knee-hugging elves.
Some Santas with expressive faces, a snowman mug (not sure about his expression) and a never-used Christmas hankie that has its original label on the back.
Some sleighs, including three small red wooden ones that fold, plus a white plastic one with elaborate scrolls. And where there are sleighs, aren't there deer?
In fact, there was a box of deer, including this large plastic pair. I've never seen these kind before. Does anyone know more about them?
Shiny gold plastic deer, big and small.
And my favorite:
A trio of heavy white plastic deer with bells and orange (?) bows. Here's a close-up of the one that seems to have all of its original charms. Love those baby blue eyes and eyelashes.
And there was just one more thing that I brought home from the very dirty and dusty basement, but only because I could wash them, and because the red tulips made me think of spring.
What kind of treasures have you found lately?
Wow, you hit the vintage Christmas jackpot! The deer with the bells are my favorite!

Did you peek in the dumpster? Just today I talked to someone about buying things out of the trash at estate sales. Classy, right? :-)

I have seen alot of deer in my time with my crafting and have not run across the pair in the one photo (large plastic pair)...they are pretty nifty!
p.s. I usually look in the dumpster to take a gander as my curiosity if they through out good stuff is just too strong!

Wonderful finds! I'm not gonna lie- I went thru the dumpster at the neighbors house before the estate sale was held- unfortunately it was mostly metal stuff that the local scrapper came by to get, so nothing was in good shape- so sad!
