I will admit that I am the hardest person to shop for. Yes, I'm picky and other than clothing, I really don't want much that wasn't made before 1965. In fact, it's become a joke that my family asks not what I want for Christmas or a birthday but what I want to return instead.
So when I happened upon these two identical Haeger planters on Christmas Eve, I snatched them up. You see, I've wanted these planters ever since I walked past another identical pair about a year ago.
Here's the story: I stumbled upon a great estate sale with insanely cheap vintage stuff. On my home, I called Barb and told her about the sale.
Of course Barb, being Barb, finds even more cool and cheap stuff that I never even saw, including a pair of vintage Haeger planters, which she buys. Then, to make me want them even more, she uses them for some great seasonal decorating, placing in them everything from Easter eggs to ornaments to little pumpkins. You can see the evidence here and here.
But on Christmas Eve, I stopped at the Salvation Army thrift store, where I hardly ever find anything good anymore, and there were my planters at $1.99 each. How did Santa know? Did Barb tell him?
So now Barb and I will have to do some tag-team decorating, filling our planters with whatever. Here's my contribution for New Year's. Barbara?
