Technically, it is summer until Sept. 22. But Labor Day seems to signal the end is almost here. I'm trying to savor what's left of summer (and I'm sure you are too). What better way than taking in this sight, which is about five miles or so from my home.
There are acres and acres of sunflowers that are planted along Route 5, just west of Syracuse. In one portion of the plantings, there's even a maze to walk through. I haven't done that, but it sounds like fun.
The sunflowers are a good pick-me-up. It's impossible to look at these cheery flowers, especially against a blue sky, and not feel a little brighter. I hope that you enjoy your holiday weekend.
